Important notice
Unless otherwise specified, the following files can be used to update or restore to an earlier version of the firmware for the Pioneer DVD-ROM drives listed. Be sure to check the current firmware of the drive before executing an upload. View the readme.txt file within the download .zip for instructions and any revision history applicable.
Follow the Readme.txt file instructions explicitly to prepare and execute the upgrade. All upgrades must be executed with the system in true DOS mode. (NOT from within a DOS Window).
It is recommended to boot the system into DOS mode via a Windows start-up floppy disk.
Only upgrade the firmware of your DVD-ROM drive if you are experiencing problems that you believe the firmware upgrade may remedy. Performing an upgrade will not change or alter the target drives current region status unless otherwise stated. No upgrades will restore a DVD-ROM drive to RPC-1 (Region Free) if it is currently set to RPC-2. Damage or change to a drives functionality following a firmware upgrade may not be covered by the original warranty.
Make sure to only upgrade using the correct version for the target drive model.
UPLOADING AN INCORRECT VERSION OF FIRMWARE CAN NOT BE REVERSED AND WILL LIKELY RENDER THE DRIVE PERMANENTLY INOPERATIVE.- Double check the firmware version and your DVD-ROM drive model before proceeding. If you are in any doubt do not perform the firmware upgrade.
- Never start an upgrade if there is any chance of a power failure occurring during the upgrade process.

Important notice
Win95/98/2000/ME/XP and NT do not require any additional device drivers to control the drive as they will use their own generic device drivers. Installing the MS-DOS drivers below on a Windows-95/98/NT or 2000 system will cause problems as they will conflict with the generic drivers.
All files are generally self extracting archives. Place the EXE file into its own directory and then execute. After extraction refer to the included readme.txt or instruction file and follow these explicitly.

ForRPC Phase 2 ATAPI DVD-ROM drives only!
By Factory default, the DVD-103S,DVD-A03S, and DVD-113 are shipped as RPC Phase 1 drives. However, they are designed to be both RPC Phase 1 and 2 compatible. If the "RPC SET"jumper pin on the rear of the drive has been removed, there is the possibility that the drive has been changed to RPC Phase 2. If the target drive is RPC Phase 1, there is no need to use this utility. |
